Obama: Free Chelsea Manning now
President Obama has just weeks left to free Chelsea Manning before he leaves office. Chelsea’s mental health has worsened and she has made two suicide attempts this year. But prison officials have only punished her as a result, including sentencing her to two weeks in solitary confinement.
Chelsea is serving a 35-year sentence in military prison for blowing the whistle on human rights abuses by coalition forces in Iraq. She was oversentenced as an example to others, and has already served time for her actions. Before he leaves office, ask Obama to grant Chelsea clemency and free her.
