Sonic Youth guitarist Thurston Moore has made a video asking President Obama to give Chelsea Time Served:
“Chelsea Manning has been incarcerated for almost 7 years. Including 11 months of unlawful pre-trial solitary confinement. She disclosed information to the public in the public interest. Her disclosure harmed no one. She recently endured more solitary as a punishment for two suicide attempts. When does it end? We must stop this cycle of cruelty. Chelsea’s life is in danger and only President Obama can save her now.”
Note: The solitary sentence that Chelsea served was for her July 5, 2016 suicide attempt. She has not yet been charged (but she has been told that she will be) for her October 4, 2016 suicide attempt, which took place during the first night of the aforementioned solitary sentence.
